How far do you race the young birds?

It all depends on the type of races the fancier is interested in. Some fanciers love the young bird races, others don’t even race the young birds a single race.
Some of the long distance fans want their yearlings to complete several long distance races, others only send them for the middle distance races, waiting for them to mature, and think that the perfect long distance and marathon pigeon is fully developed and able to race successfully when it is 2 years old.
There are some common practices that most of the fanciers follow:
- the young birds are sent no further than 300-400 Km
- the yearlings are sent to the middle distance races up to 600 Km. However, many fanciers want their yearlings to complete all the long distance races!
What about you?

Hi there, well for me i first start out my yb’s at 30 miles and keep repeating the same steps until they accually approve and then i take them to a 60 miles toss and once they approved it again then i just keep going up by 30+ miles. Well what you think is that a good training or not?

I think 30 miles is a bit too much for the FIRST time. ON the other hand, this might select the birds better and faster :).
